Working days in 2026
After these holidays and the weekends, 2026 has 250 working days.
Who gets these days off
- Federal holidays are set by federal law (5 U.S.C. 6103) and apply to federal employees. Federal offices and the Federal Reserve close on them, and the US Postal Service does not deliver regular mail.
- Private employers do not have to give federal holidays off. Most banks follow the Federal Reserve calendar, but many businesses stay open on Columbus Day and Veterans Day.
- States set their own holidays. Many follow the federal list, and some add days such as the day after Thanksgiving.
- Christmas Eve, the day after Thanksgiving, Good Friday and Election Day are not federal holidays.
